The sun is finally out, and the flowers are in full bloom. I’m in the “first part of Spring” phase, where everything is magical and refreshing. That emotion has carried over to my playlist as well.
Music is funny, isn’t it? It can transform your mood, transport you back to that special moment, provide comfort and so much more.
This proved personally true last year when the stay-at-home order took effect.
With a newfound abundance of time at home, I turned to searching for new artists on YouTube. It’s one of my favorite things to do on the website and served as a welcome distraction from the sobering news of 2020.
Enter Joshua Lee Turner.
In all honesty, I actually discovered Turner’s music page “Josh Turner Guitar” several years ago.
Turner is a talented musician. His channel features a diverse range of genres and artists. From Vampire Weekend and José González, to Peggy Lee and Django Reinhardt. You never know what he will cover next. Here are some of the songs I currently have in rotation.
What distinguishes Turner’s channel from other artists, is his community of talented friends that perform alongside him. Carson McKee, Elle and Toni, Elle Cordova, Toni Lindgren, Chase Eagleson and Sierra Eagleson, Ben Cooley, Taylor Bloom and many others. If you are unfamiliar with these artists, you should definitely check them out.
In addition to his personal channel, Turner partners with fellow musician Carson McKee in their band “The Other Favorites” which features covers as well as originals.
As if a thriving YouTube Channel that boasts over half a million subscribers and an overseas tour aren’t enough, Turner is also writing his own music. With two personal albums on his site, the music seems to keep coming.
