Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real
You know when you hear a song and can’t stop hitting the repeat button? That has been my experience with Lukas Nelson. His song “Find Yourself” gets stuck in my head, and just will not leave.
Lukas Nelson, the son of singer-songwriter great, Willie Nelson, has created a path all his own. His songs have heart, soul and usually a killer guitar riff.
According to Nelson’s bio, the name of his band originated from lyrics from a Neil Young song. Their style ranges from rock to tender love songs.
Nelson has worked with numerous artists. Lady Gaga actually sings the backing vocals for “Find Yourself.”
Both Nelson and the Promise of the Real have been in the news recently for their involvement in the new film remake, “A Star is Born.” The film stars Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.
In September, my hometown was severely damaged by Hurricane Florence. Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real reached out and played a charity concert to raise money for relief organizations. Their willingness to play, speaks volumes about their character. The concert was instantly sold out and raised funds to give back to the community.
