That time i Redesigned a website…..
Higher Grounds Coffee Shoppe
Boone, NC
IT ALL STARTED WHEN…
I needed coffee and a place with Wi-Fi, so I turned to the ever-faithful Google to point me in the direction of the closest coffee shop to me. One of the top-listed cafes happened to be extremely close and had good reviews. I clicked on the shop’s website in hopes of learning more about them. There was nothing but a splash page with a map and a phone number. When I was later tasked with creating a website for a fictional or actual business for my final project assignment, I considered this an opportunity to learn and to support a local business in the community.

I reached out to the business and included a link to CameronCait.com as a point of reference. The owner responded and explained the parts of the website build that was important to both him and the business. Mobile Optimization was extremely important because of customers, just like myself, searching for the business on their cellphone or tablet.
I was then graciously allowed to create a new site for the shop. My first order of business was to ask the owners what was the most important thing/or things that they wanted me to include. This was one of the most important aspects of the website build and allowed me to learn even more about the business, which allowed me to create a much more personalized website.
I went to the shop one weekend with a notebook and a camera. I took a bunch of stock photos that I knew the business could use in the future. I recorded short videos of a barista steaming milk and creating one of their many coffee creations. In addition to the videos and images, I asked for an ingredient list so that I could add descriptions for all menu items.
Apart from the partial template on the landing page (home page), everything else on the website was customized and added elementally to each page. All the videos and Images were taken, edited and sized by me.
In the end, I am really excited with the way the website turned out. The owners are thrilled with the site. The website itself seems to have moved up in the Google search results and the customers now have access to the menu. This has been such a rewarding experience, as well as an education. I am so grateful for the opportunity and believe I rose to the occasion. If you think I could help you and your business as well, feel free to contact me.
Please note this testimonial is from an earlier date. While they have decided to no longer utilize the site I created, I am still proud of the work I was able to do!
